road trip

So, G and I were planning on some beach-time in San Diego, as part of our 20th anniversary observation.

But we procrastinated too long, so we went local, and drove up to Sedona for a couple of days this week.

I just wrote a long post about it, and my word processing program promptly quit when I tried to spell-check it. And unlike Jesus, I didn’t save. So here’s the short version, written from exasperation (and probably better for it).

Sedona is beautiful. If you get a chance to go, do. The hotels are overpriced and the roads are often torn up, but the views and geology and the chance to get away from home for a couple of days are all worth it.

A month wouldn’t be enough to explore every trail and vista. But if you want to sit and contemplate your place in the universe, and read a good book (or write one) while sitting on a chunk of sandstone dating from the Permian era, or paint said sandstone and even mix a little local red dust into your pigments for a bit of authenticity, you can’t beat it. And there's a really good Thai restaurant there, so what else do you need?

Photos are here (password is: gnu2ewe) and scans of the sketches I did are here (no password required.)

Enjoy! We did.
